1. Missing Corner in the south: In the original Ba gua, Li gua stays in the west region. In the aspect of manifestation in the family, Li gua represents the middle age female, or the second daughter or females between 16 and 30 years old, or zodiac horse, etc; in the aspect of manifestation in the human body, Li gua represents the small intestine, eyes, heart, head etc. Once the house misses the south corner, there are corresponding symptoms happening to the people in the house, the people responding to the Li gua have bad health, and family members suffer diseases such as heart diseases, high blood pressure, eye diseases, etc. Especially for those corresponding female, they would also suffer a bad fortunate year in year of horse, snake and ram. One of our fengshui masters had been using Eight Mansion theory to check the feng shui for a couple’s house. When he just got the plane paper of their house, he asked the birth year of them. He immediately told the couples that they don’'t live in harmony; always have quarrels and most of the time the discords were caused by the wife. By calculating, the master even told them in which month they have most frictions since they moved. It was so accurate that shocked these couples a lot. The master explained that reason to them. Actually the Gua Number (year star) of that man was Qian Gua. In fengshui pratice, we call the star Six White, Which belong to Metal element. It doesn't mean that people belong to different system of Gua Number have to live separately, it sounds ridiculous. But they do need to make some arrangements for their house or room. The problem in this case was the room that they lived in didn'’t use any colors or elements to balance the conflicts of the Chi. The room was wrong, and the door was wrong either. That is why since they moved in, all kinds of problems were coming so frequently.

In real fengshui practice, the problems are not that easy and simply. First of all, check out your Gua number.
If your Gua number belongs to Eastern person:
1 For Eastern person whose Gua number is 1(Kan gua). Start your compass in the center of the bedroom, and see which region the entrance locates. The best location for entrance of bedroom is in the southeast, east, south or north region. Set your bed in east-southeast direction; let your pillow face to southeast (mean to let your feet point to southeast when you are lying down on your bed) because the southeast is the Sheng Qi (for success, wealth, career, promotion) position, which is the most auspicious position to Kan gua person ( Gua number 1). Kan gua belongs to water element, so you can also place some water feature beside your pillow (such as little fish pot or wavy shape item). In Eight Mansion Theory, the star locates in Sheng Qi position belongs to wood element, so the propitious chi can be enhanced as well. The most ominous positions for the entrance of the bedroom are southwest and northeast. These two positions both belong to earth element, which can destroy the life water element of Kan gua person. In the period of Eight White, Nine Purple is recognized as the future lucky star. Star Nine Purple is in control of the joyous events in the family, which includes promotion, new start of enterprise, marriage, giving birth of new baby, etc. Once the outside environment and the interior design have a good match with the star, it is a nice and easy approach to enjoy the year of happiness. If the door or window locates in this region, the chi can be activated even faster. However, this star relies a lot on the environment. If the environment is not satisfied to the chi of the star, it will cause infection and other sickness related to eyes, intestines, stomach, heart and blood pressure. In the original Bagua, southeast region represents Xun gua, which belongs to wood element. According to Five Element theory, wood produces fire, which supports the fire element of star Nine Purple. We can use either wood element or fire element to enhance the chi of Nine Purple. Southeast is considered as the auspicious region; nonetheless, there are some other factors we need to consider this year. 2008 is the Year of Rat. In the original Bagua, zodiac rat locates in the due north, which means the God of the year (Tai sui or Grand Duke) locates in the north. The south region is sitting opposite to north. Strong chi that coming from north region has an significant effect on south region; and the chi of Tai sui is so powerful that even one third of southeast and one third of southwest are involved (see note 1). So when we are doing feng shui arrangements, these two one-third areas are both required to be still, quiet and not activated even though southeast region is one of the propitious areas.

Flying star Six White, which belongs to metal element, is favorable for whom seeking for windfall, changes in life (as little as traveling luck, as great as house movement, switch of job). It is even beneficial to bring helpful people in life. In traditional feng shui practice, star One White, Six white and Eight White have been recognized as the three most auspicious stars. In period of Eight White, the lucky chi of star Six White is declined; however, it is still a positive star that good for reputation, authority, wealth and migration luck. It is also good for occupations such as military, athlete, etc. Especially in this year, Flying star Six White locates in the north region, which is the original region of lucky star One White. According to the flying star theory, star Six White and star One White make a very powerful combo for pursuing official rank. But never forget Tai sui is sitting in the north region this year, so we need to place still metal or earth element to enhance the chi of star Six White. We recommend metal dragon and metal monkey as a combo staying in the north. This is the year of the Rat, according to zodiac theory; zodiac rat, zodiac dragon and monkey make a harmonious combo. As a matter of fact, if the chi of rat is combined with these other two zodiacs, the chi changes and decreases its effect on that place. Use white color or metal color as the best choices for enhancements.

As we mentioned before, the one third of southwest region is affected by the chi of Tai sui. In fact, the violent star Seven Red locates in southwest region. Star Seven Red is a declined star from period Seven (from 1983 to 2003). When Seven Red is in its position, it is very beneficial for those fields that associate with tongues (such as singing performance, media, divine, law, etc), and it is also good for the media transmission. We can see that lots of people built up their wealth and reputation by eloquence and singing performance in period of seven. However, when this star approaches to the end of its dynasty, it shows its hidden ferocious attribute, which causes gossips, fights, wars and fire dangers. In the aspect of body health, it triggers problems of lungs and respiration system. We can even see so much chaos of omen came into view in the last year of star Seven Red in worldwide scope. For instance, there were Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (abbreviated as SARS) and Iraq war in 2003; In the period Eight White, star seven is good for art, entertainment and extra income in one sense. But if the arrangements doesn’t satisfied the chi, it brings out accidental affairs, extra marital affairs, villain slanders, robbery, losses, lawsuits and fights; in the aspect of body, it causes sickness of wrist, leg joints, kidney and urinary system. In original Ba gua, Kun Gua (star Two black) stays in southwest and it belongs to Earth element. According to the five element theory, earth produces metal; it means that southwest Palace supports the chi of star Seven Red. In one hand, we need to use the water element to exhaust the chi of metal; In the other hand, we need to avoid red color system in this region to trigger chi of Seven Red, for examples, avoid orange or purple color curtain here and use some white, black or blue color carpet in this region instead.

note 1: In actual feng shui practice, we divide eight directions into twenty-four mountains; here one third of southeast and one third of southwest mean that both of them is affected in one mountain. For the one third of southeast; it is the mountain of Snake; for the one third of southwest, it is the mountain of Ram. We will talk about it later.

In 2008, 3 Green Star, which causes trouble, damage, arguments and lawsuit, arrives in West. This star belongs to Wood element. Then we can use Fire Element to decrease its bad chi. Therefore we recommend place something red in this area, such as red scrolls or red Buddha.

Watch out South position in 2008 since 5 Yellow Star and 3 Killings are in South. 5 Yellow Star causes serious sick; 3 Killings cause accidents and injuries. So it is better to lower this position and let it quiet in this area. Too much activation is prohibited, such as displaying running water fountain. In addition, too much Wood or Fire Elements in South are not recommended, for example, red carpet.

However the element we use to increase/decrease may be not just according to Theory of 5 Elements (Theory of 5 elements is at Theory of Five Elements ). The choice of elements will also depend on the location that the flying star is located. For instance, 8 White Star, which is the emperor star in Period 8( from 2004 to 2024), locates in east this year. Since the star is in charged, it is auspicious in many aspects, which is good for starting enterprise, monetary fortune and promotion even marital affairs. Star 8 White belongs to earth element; however, the east region in the original Ba Gua belongs to wood element. According to the Five-element theory, the wood element destroys earth element, it means the Star 8 White can't develop due to the disturbance of wood element. And if we just place regular earth element feng shui item as usual, it will cause skin and digest diseases, and minor problems associated with thews, feet and ear because the Star 8 White represents thews, hands, back, stomach and intestines, etc in human body; the wood chi in original east represents liver, feet and hair, etc (the original east is related to Star 3 Jade); when these particular wood element and earth element have a fight, those body sickness we mentioned before will indicate in certain level. So we need to use fire element in east region this year. Here the fire element functions not just a supporter for earth element (fire produces earth), but also the mediator between wood element and earth element in this conflict. In one hand, wood element produces fire element, which will exhaust the wood energy; in the other hand, the fire element is triggered and producing propitious earth energy to strengthen the lucky Star 8 White. It makes a perfect solution in both sides.

In addition, keep in mind that don't choose one element to destroy another element. Destroying will cause heavily back strike sometimes. The best solution is to use the milder way to decrease that element.
